Rachel performs on the 1742 “ex-Bazzini ex-Soldat” violin by Joseph Guarneri “del Gesu,” loaned to her by an anonymous patron. Selected by Brahms for Marie Soldat, this remarkable instrument remained hidden for years before Rachel brought it back to the stage in 2002.
