Dame Evelyn Glennie

Dame Evelyn Glennie is the first person in history to create and sustain a full-time career as a solo percussionist, performing worldwide with top orchestras and artists. Despite losing her hearing at age 12, she has redefined what’s possible in the world of music, proving that being deaf doesn’t mean being disconnected from sound. 🎶

From growing up on a farm in Scotland to leading 1,000 drummers at the 2012 Olympic Games, Evelyn’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. She has commissioned over 200 pieces from renowned composers, paving the way for percussion to be front and center on some of the world’s greatest stages, including the first percussion concerto ever performed at the Proms in 1992! 🥁

Evelyn’s career shows that music transcends barriers, inspiring musicians everywhere to listen differently and embrace creative expression.
